Does Psy Hate America?
According to some discoveries of Psy, the Korean Pop Star that released “Gangnam Style” to the world, hated America back in 2002 and 2004. At a concert in 2002, Psy performed on stage and took a model of an American Tank and smashed it on the ground. He was at the time protesting the murder of two 13-year-old Korean girls when a tank ran them over. While his protest is just for his country, many in America won’t really subscribe to that kind of hate.
The disdain for American troops doesn’t stop there! In 2004, the singer also performed a song with the following lyrics, “”Kill those f–king Yankees who have been torturing Iraqi captives/Kill those f–king Yankees who ordered them to torture/Kill their daughters, mothers, daughter-in-law and fathers/Kill them all slowly and painfully.” The comments are surely harsh and many fans are upset that their favorite “guilty pleasure” is a Anti-American rally starter. Does this mean that Psy hates America?
Surely the singer doesn’t hate America because it is because of his fans in America that he became famous. Now with the many supporters of America’s troops, there might be some HUGE repercussions from this. This is not the only celebrity that has had their past revealed and it has hurt their career badly. With this reveal, are fans going to stand by their favorite Korean Pop singer? There are a lot of unforgiving people who won’t take kindly to the words that someone spoke despite it being years ago.
It is early to tell because the news is still fresh, but it is quite clear that Psy had distaste for the “Yankees” as he calls Americans back several years ago. Psy has become a phenomenon across the world, but many feel that he is a “one-hit-wonder”. Like so many singers of the past, the one song may give millions, but that is all. Many hope that Psy will be able to continue the success, but after the news of his hatred toAmericaseveral years ago, it might just hurt him further.
