Cat cora's mug shotAccording to TMZ, the “Iron Chef” and Food Network star, Cat Cora, has received a pretty awesome plea deal with prosecutors regarding her DUI arrest. Cora has pled “no contest” early today to her June arrest for driving with a blood alcohol level of over .08. The DUI count has been dropped.

Cora was only sentenced to 9 months of DUI School and three years of probation. She was also ordered to pay $2,386 in fines. As long as Cora completes DUI school and fulfills her probation, she will not have to spend one minute behind bars, as she received a 120 day suspended jail sentence.

On June 1th, Cora was arrested in Santa Barbara for a DUI. The admitted to the police officer that she had drank three beers and blew a .19 on the breathalyzer.

Cat apologized after her arrest saying that her designated driver had become unavailable and she regrets her decision to drive anyways.

The “Iron Chef” star had rear-ended another vehicle prior to her arrest. When the other driver began to video tape her, she became furious and began calling the driver and his passengers nerds with no lives.

The driver of the other vehicle reported told TMZ that he only recorded Cora on his camera phone because he had suspected that she was under the influence of alcohol and he wanted proof.

Cat Cora is just another celebrity name in a very long list of DUI arrests. Maybe if the penalties for such arrests were much worse, there would not be so many of them.Cat Cora

Compared to a few other celebrity chef arrests, Cora’s DUI is actually pretty tame. Morgan Wilson is one that makes my stomach churn. The “Top Chef: Just Desserts” finalist was arrested for viewing and spreading child pornography. If he’s found guilty, he could face 10 years in prison.

Antony Worrell Thompson, a celebrity chef in the UK, was caught earlier this year shoplifting wine and cheese from Tesco’s. This was quite a surprise, as most people wouldn’t expect a 60 year old successful chef to have to stoop to that level. Stephen Dean Corbett, a restauranteur from Louisville, KY was arrested after he made a hand to hand transaction from his car in a high drug trafficking area. After he was pulled over he admitted to police that he had purchased Vicodin for chronic pain that he’d suffered from for over 15 years.

One of the strangest Celebrity Chef arrests is that of Juan Carlos Cruz, who hired two homeless men, named Big Dave and Little Dave, to kill his 47 year old wife for $1000. Cruz apparently gave them men ten $100 bills that had been torn in half and told them he would give them the other halves of the bills once the dead was done. Cruz was sentenced to nine years in prison.
