Bristol Palin and Levi Johnston Custody Battle Is Over

Submitted by on September 18, 2012 – 12:35 pm Comments

Levi Johnston and Bristol PalinReports have come in from Juneau, Alaska and the custody case between Bristol Palin and Levi Johnston is over and done with. Now that the case has been closed, the two will have to work out any other differences they have about their three year old son Tripp all on their own.

The Alaskan court documents state that the case surrounding the custody battle over the couple’s son Tripp was closed due to a lack of activity. So what exactly does this mean for Sarah Palin’s grandson? Rex Butler, Johnston’s attorney, stated that what they are taking away from this situation is that any issues will have to be resolved between Johnston and Palin themselves. The courts will no longer be involved (hopefully.) Bristol Palin’s attorney has yet to make a comment regarding the closed case.

In 2010 the couple had agreed that Palin would have the primary physical custody of Tripp, and she and Johnston would end up sharing legal custody, but this was subject to resolution by the Palins if the two couldn’t agree. Johnston was allowed visits with his son, and he agreed to pay Palin child support for Tripp.

In July, there was an automatic notice sent out that the case was pending dismissal thanks to the inactivity of the case.Bristol Palin and son Tripp

The pair were thrust into the spotlight back in 2008 when Bristol’s mother Sarah Palin was nominated as the Republican candidate for Vice President of the United States. The two were expecting their first child as unwed teenagers. They have had a very public, nasty, on again, off again relationship that included a few engagements. Both of Tripp’s parents have gone on to write books about their experiences and Bristol is staring for the second time on “Dancing with the Stars.” Johnston just recently had a new baby with his now girlfriend. The new baby made headlines thanks to being named after a hand gun, Beretta.

On Monday, Bristol posted on her blog that she has not had much recent interaction with Johnston but she is happy for him in regards to his new little girl. “A child is a blessing and I know they are experiencing the joys (and challenges!) of having a newborn,” Bristol wrote on her blog. Tripp sent his new half little sister flowers as his mommy wrote “and we both wish all the best for her.”
