Billie Joe Armstrong Cusses Out Presenters of iHeartRadio Festival On Stage

Yesterday at the IHeartRadio Music Festival, Green Day’s lead singer, Billie Joe Armstrong screamed at the promoters of the festival when it was alerted by a screen on stage that he had 1 minute left to perform. This move by the promoters was to give singers Usher and Rihanna more time on stage. This was not taken lightly by the singer as he went into a profanity-laden rant. Gawker reported that Billie Joe screamed out to the crowd and said the following:

“Oh, f–k this s–t. I’m gonna play a f–king new song….Give me a f–king break. One minute left. One minute f–king left. You’re gonna give me one f–king minute? Look at that f–king sign right there — one minute. Let me f–king tell you something, let me tell you something, I’ve been around since f–king 198-f-cking-8. And you’re gonna give me one f–king minute? You’ve gotta be f–king kidding me! You’re f–king kidding me. What the f–k! I’m not f–king Justin Bieber, you motherf–kers…I got one minute—one minute left. Oh, now I got nothing left. Let me show you what one f–king minute f–king means. One minute. God f–king love you all. We’ll be back.”

The singer and band members then proceeded to smashing their guitars on stage. The festival promoters have not yet replied to any news outlets, but it is safe to say that Green Day might not be coming back to the festival. However, the question remains. Does Billie Joe have the right to be upset? To make room for more established performers, as some might believe.

The band Green Day started with their hit album Dookie back in 1987 with hit singles as “Basketcase” and “She”. The band has more experience than Usher and Rihanna combined. However, with this irate rant, some feel that it should be the end to Green Day. There are a loyal fan base out there and it will be interesting to hear what the promoters of the festival are going to say when they cut the time shorter than Green Day wanted it.
