Amy Poehler Signs Her First Book Deal
It has been recently revealed that, Amy Poehler the star of the TV series Parks and Recreation and the now famous co-host of the recently concluded Golden Globes has signed a book deal. Well, when one hears Poehler is going to pen a book one automatically assumes that the basic premise of the book would be humorous and one wouldn’t be wrong in assuming that. Her book is touted to be a humorous diary that shall include anecdotes, real life incidents and the lessons that she has learnt in life. In fact, it is the publisher that described the book as “an illustrated, non-linear diary full of humor and honesty and brimming with true stories, fictional anecdotes and life lessons”.
The premise of the book sure sounds interesting, the only thing that now remains to be seen is how good a writer Poehler is. Obviously, the publisher wouldn’t take a chance and would probably keep a ghost writer on the stand by, just in case the stuff churned out by Poehler doesn’t match up to expected standards. It’s the famous publishing house Harper Collins that has signed the deal with Poehler and shall release the book in 2014.

Surely, it is Poehler’s fame that prompted the publishing house to sign a deal with her in the first place and if the book ends up appealing to
the readers because of its content, it’s an added bonus. Probably, the publishers are sanguine that a large number of copies would simply fly off the shelves thanks to Poehler’s name being on the cover, just like Tina Fey’s book did. For those unaware, Tina Fey’s book Bossypants was really well received and ended up selling more than 2 million copies. The Tina Fey factor as a matter of fact, must have encouraged Poehler to write a book even more.
Also, thanks to the recent Golden Globes, Poehler and Fey are both hotter commodities than they already were. Besides, female comedians like Chelsea Handler, Mindy Kaling and Sarah Silverman have also written books and their books have been well received. Hence there isn’t any reason for Poehler’s book to not be a success. Lena Dunham too augers a mention while we are on the topic of female comedians writing stuff, because in 2012 she received an advance of $3.2 million for a collection of humorous essays. It needs to be mentioned here that, it hasn’t been revealed how much Poehler is getting paid for her book.
