Amanda Bynes Absent From DMV Hearing

Amanda BynesI’m getting a bit sick of the train wreck that is now Amanda Bynes, but like any other wreck, it’s pretty hard to look away. Amanda Bynes is now residing in New York City. At least she won’t have to drive everywhere, or let’s pray she doesn’t. But just because she’s moved cities does not mean that she left all her drama and trouble behind her. The ‘retired’ actress missed her Los Angeles hearing today in regards to her suspended license.

Though Bynes was MIA, her attorney was there in court, trying to defend her against the Department of Motor Vehicles. I have a hard time believing anyone would actually try to defend her after the past year of drama, but hopefully she’s paying him pretty good. This guy definitely had an uphill battle however.

Bynes’ move to New York was so that the star could begin her very own fashion line. Bynes was seen over the weekend trying to scout out places in Big Apple where she can set up shop. The news that Bynes missed her court date should come as a surprise to no one. Again, the ‘retired’ Amanda Bynesactress has seemed completely off her rocker lately.

At the DMV hearing, Richard Hutton, Bynes’ attorney, tried to explain what has been going on with Bynes. He had to explain speeding tickets, DUI’s, Hit and Runs (note that that is plural!) and she was even pulled over for driving without headlights. Ironically, her suspended license was a result of unpaid tickets and not due to her DUI and hit and runs. This is enough to make anyone say “WTF.” I mean seriously, you won’t take away a person’s license after at least two hit and runs and DUI, but forget to pay your tickets and it’s gone!

Since the burden of proof does rest on the defendant, it would have been helpful for Bynes to show up to her DMV hearing. A judge urged her to show up, but really, did anyone there at the DMV actually believe she would?

We won’t have any word on the actual outcome of the hearing for a while. It generally takes about two weeks for the DMV to send their ruling via snail mail. Bynes has another hearing scheduled for Thursday regarding her two hit and run charges. Pretty sure she’s not planning on making an appearance at those either. Those charges are misdemeanors and Bynes does not have to be present at them. Which is probably better for the other Los Angeles roadways anyways.
