Brian Peppers Photoshop Fun
Tom Wood Funny Photos | 04.25.06
It's been days since we last discussed Brian Peppers... or should I say Super Peppers? Make sure you read to the bottom. It gets better!
(If you haven't been following Brian Peppers, learn about him and listen to his song!)

I generally enjoy your blog a lot, but I fail to understand the humor in making fun of a deformed person. Yes, I know he's a sex offender. I live a couple of towns away from him and my son has seen him on a few occasions at the movie theater where he works, so I have no doubt he's 'for real.' My son showed me his picture long before I ever read The Daily Bubble. What a horrifying life he must have had. What's the point of making it worse? How cruel.

Lisa, upon reflection, I agree it's cruel.
Unfortunately, when this whole Peppers thing started we had no idea who he was or what he was accused of. We gave no thought to his potential unfair victimization. Honestly, I thought it was a joke. In the picture that circulated, it said he was 5'8" but he wasn't taller than a light switch. It turns out he was sitting (although it still doesn't look like it). Anyway, once you poke fun at something long enough, it becomes quite impersonal. That's not fair, but it's how it seems to be. A picture of an extreme car crash is exciting - until you know the person inside.
This type of thing is why I'm against sex offender registries because they add a lot of people that have served their time and may not be a danger. It's one thing if someone is raping people at gun point, it's another if a 20-year-old gets involved with a 16-year-old and is convicted of statuatory rape. Should that person be branded for life? I definitely don't think so. People should be given a chance for rehabilitation, even if it makes us less safe. In the safety/freedom trade off, I side on freedom 95% of the time. Then again, I'm not a parent.
I'll let your comment stand as testament to the fact that this comedy is cruel. I feel a little guilty now that I reflect on it. But I've never removed a post from the Bubble so I'll let this stand as food for thought.
UPDATE: Looking back over the images, I have to say that my comment applies to the other entries more than this Photoshopping stuff. Putting famous faces - beautiful or otherwise - in other situations is inherently amusing. I don't feel guilty about this particular laugh. I reserve the right to change my mind if my photo ever gets similar treatment.

David,
I appreciate your response. Your point about the car crash is certainly an accurate one. Unless we have a personal connection to something, it's easy to find humor, thrills, whatever. Can't say that I agree about the Photoshopping somehow being less cruel, but you're certainly entitled to that opinion. At any rate, I'm glad you took the time to consider my post and respond.

Lisa, thanks for sharing your thoughts. There's way too much shrillness on the 'net these days so I like to keep a level head. Honest feedback always helps. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

This guy has become something of an internet legend.
I heard that he was arrested for groping a nurse but claims it was an honest mistake, he just wanted her attention. He apparently lives in a nursing home and is in a wheel chair, I guess that's why he is sitting in the photo????
If that's all he did then I feel terrible for him as he has become the butt of many jokes.
Anyway, please come and visit us at: www.poptrashforums.com where we talk about anything in general and always have a good laugh!

If he did not want to play the game, he should have never rolled the devil's dice. If not for the media, this guy would not even exist except to personal few, I myself thought it was a hoax until I researched.
